This sounds cool but...I'm not sure how to use it.

That's ok! I get asked about this a lot because it's a new concept for many folks. Check out the pictures and videos on my site. Once you get an idea of how it works, you'll find many uses for this skill. If you have questions, let's converse.

Do you travel?

Yes! I'm based in Louisville, Kentucky and am happy to come to you. I do drive and flying isn't a problem.

Where did you learn this?

I had the joy of studying with Christina Merkley of MakeMark in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. She is one of the pioneers of graphic recording and facilitation and her workshops are intense, productive, and most of all - fun.

 FAQ on Recording and facilitation

What do you do during a typical recording session?

I set up my paper and markers and capture your conversation, keynote, brainstorm, visioning, what have you. This is a high-level synthesis of the presentation or conversation.

If I am facilitating, I'll be interacting with the client (or you) according to the plan you and I have made.

My work focuses the group, serves as a group memory, organizes and synthesizes, and shows patterns and ideas.

Think of me as a reverse GPS: I don't tell you where to go, I follow the group and show where you've been so you can see the best ways to go forward.

Graphic recording/facilitation is not:

  • Stenography
  • Simple notes-taking
  • Caricature (although I do sometimes draw people or creatures when appropriate)
  • Storyboarding (although it could be used that way)

What about facilitation?

I have been trained in graphic recording, graphic facilitation, and plain ol' facilitation. We can talk about using all or some of these pieces to accommodate your needs and preferences.

Who is this for?

The wonderful thing about this work is its versatility and adaptability. I've done keynote addresses, strategy sessions, decision-making meetings, and more.  Let's talk about how I can work with you.
